The End Is Awesome

Review This Week’s Sermon

Review Key Scriptures

Romans 8:22-23
For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together with labor pains until now. Not only that, but we ourselves who have the Spirit as the firstfruits — we also groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for adoption, the redemption of our bodies.

Luke 16:19-22
“There was a rich man who would dress in purple and fine linen, feasting lavishly every day. But a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, was lying at his gate. He longed to be filled with what fell from the rich man’s table, but instead the dogs would come and lick his sores. One day the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried.

Philippians 3:20-21
Our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly wait for a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ. He will transform the body of our humble condition into the likeness of his glorious body, by the power that enables him to subject everything to himself.

Revelation 21:1-5
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. I also saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband. Then I heard a loud voice from the throne: Look, God’s dwelling is with humanity, and he will live with them. They will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them and will be their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; grief, crying, and pain will be no more, because the previous things have passed away. Then the one seated on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new.” He also said, “Write, because these words are faithful and true.”

1 John 3:2-3
Dear friends, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when he appears, we will be like him because we will see him as he is. And everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself just as he is pure.

Ephesians 2:6-7
He also raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavens in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might display the immeasurable riches of his grace through his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

Daniel 7:27
The kingdom, dominion, and greatness of the kingdoms under all of heaven will be given to the people, the holy ones of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will serve and obey him.

‭‭Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.

  • ICEBREAKER: What do you look forward to the most in heaven? If you COULD take one thing to Heaven, what would it be?

Start thinking. Ask questions to get your group thinking.

  • Which part of this message was most impactful for you and why?

  • Read Romans 8:22-23 - Discuss what is the correlation between your suffering on earth and your glorification to Heaven? How does this make your suffering more bearable?

Start sharing. Ask questions to create openness.

  • Read Luke 16:19-22 - This passage speaks of God’s intentional care for each of his children. Why do you think God sends angels to bring his children home when they die?

  • Read Philippians 3:20-21 - Trying to live in your eternal future can make us disconnected with the present; living only in the present can make us disconnected with our eternal future. How should your citizenship in Heaven affect your stay here on earth?

  • Read Revelation 21:1-5 - What do you think will exist on the new earth? What will our eternal experience be in God’s presence?

  • Read 1 John 3:2-3 - How is your purity affected by your perspective?

  • Read Ephesians 2:6-7 - What riches of grace has God displayed through your life?

  • Read Daniel 7:27 - BRAINTEASER: Who/what will God’s people reign over on the New Earth?

Start praying together. Be bold and pray with power.

Lord, I confess I don’t often long for heaven. I’m a creature of this world and crave worldly things, not heavenly ones. I ask you would grow a desire in me for heaven. Help me not be satisfied with the things of this world, but long for closeness with you and the perfection of eternity in your presence. Lord, thank you for the hope of heaven and the joy we will have when we get there! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
