SUMMARY OF POSITION 

The Connections Pastor is responsible for developing and leading a comprehensive strategy to welcome, engage, and integrate new guests, regular attenders, and new members into the life and ministries of Harvest. This individual will shepherd new and mature believers, and guide people toward meaningful connection through discipleship, service, and community. 

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Guest and Newcomer Engagement 
    • Oversee all aspects of the first-time guest experience (greeters, Guest Connect booths, Promise books, follow-up communication, etc.). 
    • Oversee timely and personal follow-up with guests and visitors. 
    • Train and equip volunteers to maximize connection opportunities for visitors and newcomers. 
  • Assimilation Path 
    • Design and manage a clear assimilation process from visitor to fully engaged member. 
    • Plan and lead regular “Discover Harvest” classes for newcomers. 
    • Work with pastoral staff to guide individuals through baptism, membership, and spiritual next steps. 
  • Discipleship and Connection 
    • Partner with the Adult Ministries Pastor or equivalent staff to connect new members into small groups and ministry teams. 
    • Ensure that new believers are connected with appropriate resources, mentors and Deacon Care. 
    • Plan and lead adult elective classes, such as systematic theology, hermeneutics, and topical studies. 
  • Volunteer Leadership 
    • Recruit, train, and care for volunteers serving in connections, and follow-up teams. 
    • Work with the Deacon Board Chairman, and deacons on the Deacon Care program. 
    • Provide ongoing encouragement, development, and vision casting for team leaders. 
  • Ministry Collaboration 
    • Collaborate with other pastors and staff and ministry leaders to ensure smooth transitions between ministries and departments. 
    • Provide regular reporting and updates to the Oversight Team and Executive Staff on assimilation metrics and progress. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • The Connections Pastor is to be a man of God, who has ordered his life in compliance with the teaching of Scripture and the example of our Lord. 

  • He must be a spiritually mature individual who exhibits a heart of worship, service to others, an active prayer life, and knowledge of the Bible. 

  • Must be in agreement with the ministry philosophy of Harvest New Beginnings. 

  • He must evidence the Biblical Pastoral qualifications (Titus 1:6-9, I Timothy 3:1-7), heartily agree to the Constitution and By-Laws of Harvest New Beginnings and believe that God has truly called him into the ministry. 

  • He must fully agree with the doctrinal statement and distinctives of Harvest. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in ministry or theology (Seminary degree preferred). 

  • Strong teaching, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. 

  • Proven ability to lead teams and mobilize volunteers.
