SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Assistant Children’s Director serves as a leader and developer within the Children’s Ministry, working alongside the Children’s Director to reach and connect with children from birth through 5th grade.  This role supports all aspects of ministry planning, execution, and volunteer development of making disciples who love God and love people.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

Evaluate and Foster growth in current Children’s Ministry programs.  

Recruit, equip and train volunteers for all ministry areas (e.g., AWANA, Sunday School, special events). 

Provide leadership as Commander on Sunday nights for all AWANA Clubs. 

Oversee volunteer staffing and classroom training, ensuring adequate coverage and preparation for Sunday morning classes. 

Ensure all classrooms are well-stocked with necessary supplies and are safe and inviting environments. 

Verify background checks and screening are complete for all children’s ministry volunteers. 

Communicate effectively with parents, children, volunteers, and staff about ministry objectives and activities.  

Support the Children’s Director in planning and executing all ministry events and outreach activities. 

Effectively manage time and responsibilities, handling multiple tasks with organization and care. 

Oversee Child Dedication. 

Complete other duties or special projects as assigned by the Children’s Director or pastoral leadership. 


QUALIFICATIONS 

Has a heart for the children’s ministry. 

Demonstrates ability to lead, equip, and encourage teams of volunteers. 

Strong communication and organizational skills. 

Passion for ministering to children and families with the love of Christ. 

Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, ministry-focused environment.
