Executive Pastor

At Harvest, we believe every position from the pastors to the maintenance staff has a specific calling to advance God's Kingdom through the local church. Our administrative positions are no different. Our office staff plays a large roll in how we function as a church and spiritual organization.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Executive Pastor assists the Oversight Team and Senior Pastor in development
and execution of the vision and direction for Harvest New Beginnings Church,
including the organizational and administrative oversight of ministries,
administration, human resources and day-to-day operations. The Executive Pastor
facilitates the development, implementation and oversight of strategies to
accomplish Harvest’s 3-Rs (Reach In, Reach Up, Reach Out) ministry purposes. 


PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

● Implement the vision and strategy of the Oversight Team by setting and
tracking specific, measurable goals.
● Ensure the practices, activities and policies of church ministries responsibly
and effectively carry out objectives established by the Oversight Team.
● Oversee budget development, budget adherence and cash flow for each
ministry in conjunction with Church Accounting Office and Bookkeeping.
● Administrate financial processes of the church, including: banking and
finance, contributions, insurance, payroll, budget planning, budget oversight
and annual budget preparation.
● General oversight of computer operations, information and communication
systems and IT personnel.

● Lead in the development, documentation and adherence of church policies
and procedures which effectively facilitate Harvest’s 3-Rs vision in
cooperation with the Oversight Team.
● Oversee all human resource issues, including: hiring and dismissal of staff in
accordance with our employee manual; maintaining employee personnel files
complete with job descriptions, employment applications, background
checks, reference checks, payroll authorization forms; conducting and
documenting performance evaluations along with Senior Pastor or Office
Manager; overseeing negotiation of insurance and other employee benefits;
maintaining security of all Human Resource records.
● Assist in developing the leadership infrastructure needed to effectively
execute and oversee ministry at Harvest New Beginnings in agreement with
the Oversight Team.
● Ensure staffing, facilities and programs are appropriately and effectively
implemented and managed to best meet Harvest’s strategic goals.
● Oversee the launching of new ministries at Harvest consistent with the
church’s vision, values and purpose; in agreement with the Oversight Team.

STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES/COMMUNICATION
● Oversee all staff to include pastoral staff, ministry directors, managers and
support staff; assisting and acting as a resource for accomplishing their
ministry objectives in the most God-honoring way.
● Provide direction to staff leadership teams in setting and tracking specific,
measurable goals to ensure the 3-Rs vision is being achieved.
● Lead all staff by Godly example by embodying the spirit of servant leadership
and commitment which was demonstrated by Christ. Ephesians 4:1-3 “Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, being
diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
● Oversee budget development, budget adherence and cash flow of staff-led
ministries in cooperation with the Oversight Team.
● Facilitate communication and conflict management for individual staff
members and the staff team. Clearly communicate expectations to the staff
about how they are to communicate to each other and to the people of
Harvest. Ephesians 4:29 “Let no unwholesome word proceed from your
mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need
of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.”
● Handle personnel conflicts and troubleshoot programs and ministry
challenges.
● Attend Oversight Team and Family Business meetings and clearly
communicate necessary information to staff.
● Lead weekly executive staff meetings; including other church activities that
are focused on developing or defining goals, objectives or programs that
support the vision and strategy of the Oversight Team.
● Meet regularly (bi-weekly or monthly) with individual executive staff
members on ministry needs and challenges.
● Other administrative duties as assigned by the Oversight Team.


EXPECTATIONS
● Must be willing to grow and adapt to the inevitable changes found in a
growing church. “When you’re done learning, you’re done leading.” Proverbs
18:15 “The mind of the discerning acquires knowledge,
and the ear of the wise seeks it.”

● Able to stay disciplined and diligent with both personal and professional time
management; maintain a balance between home and work life.
● Actively participate in the life of the church. As available, attend events,
including (but not limited to): Sunday services, prayer meetings, hospital
visits, and visitation, as well as provide support and encouragement to the
other various ministers of Harvest

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
● Meet the qualifications listed in 1 Tim 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
● Vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrated in part by a commitment
to personal times of prayer, worship and Bible study.
● A strong marriage and family life which provide a visible testimony to the
Harvest family.
● Bachelor’s degree is required (Bible Degree preferred), graduate level
coursework (business preferred) toward an MS or MBA degree is
recommended, and completion of either an MS or MBA degree is preferred.
● Minimum of 10+ years of staff management of overseeing at least 10 staff in
a non-profit, church or business setting. Experience working on a church staff
is preferred, but at least 5 years of marketplace experience is required.
● Significant experience in administration of a church and/or a business.
Specific human resource, project management and/or financial background is
preferred.
● Proven successful service in staff leadership including development of policies
and procedures as well as hiring, developing and dismissal of staff members.
● Background in organizational development with ability to coach and develop
staff and volunteers.

● Demonstrated success in team development, delegation of authority and
defining project roles.
● Commitment to continual development of both leadership skills and
understating of organizational synergy.
