ACCOUNTING MANAGER

SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Accounting Manager at Harvest New Beginnings performs financial management and accounting functions for the church, including managing the church’s various accounts and books. It includes managing an integrated financial system for day-to-day operations, long and short-term planning, accountability, accurate reporting, and fiscal responsibility. Additionally, the role includes oversight of monitoring, implementing, and managing annual budgets, assisting ministry leaders in budgeting processes, and monitoring line item expenses.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee all accounting operations including but not limited to payroll, payables, budget planning/implementation, weekly offering management
Coordinate, analyze, and report the financial performance of the church to Executive Pastor and/or Oversight Team on a monthly basis or as requested
Prepare short and long-term financial forecasts of financial performance
Oversee annual audit/reviews and coordinate activities with an outside audit firm; implementing suggested policies and practices
Develop, implement, and maintain accounting and administrative policies and procedures and financial controls to include financial accounting and reporting and finance management for events and church ministry activities
Work with Executive Pastor and/or Oversight Team to monitor and manage employee benefits, retirement plans, insurance, and related activities
Produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; maintain confidential individual contribution records, providing reports to contributors on an appropriate basis
Responsible for the safekeeping of all funds, securities, and fiduciary documents of the church including proper records retention management
Manage employee records to include onboarding hiring documents, payroll, and benefits; as well, maintaining similar files for hired contractors and vendors
Oversee the process for recruiting, training, and scheduling of volunteers to assist in collecting and counting financial contributions to the church

Model biblical community in their relationships (Matt 5:23-24, Matt 18:15-17, Eph 4:25-32)
Model biblical family life before the body (Eph 5:22-6:4)
Model biblical integrity in all things (1 Tim 6:11-12)
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
5+ years’ experience in accounting management including not-for-profit accounting experience
Business Degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar
Experience working in a large church setting
Preparation of required schedules, working papers, and communication with outside CPA firms
Proficiency in aspects of accounting and all pertinent rules and regulations
Proficient computer skills, QuickBooks experience a plus
Demonstrated experience in all aspects of financial statement construction from bookkeeping/payroll through financial statements and interpretation

Excellent attention to detail, ensuring the completion of projects
Maintain a high degree of accuracy while meeting deadlines

Ability to design, implement and monitor internal controls
Ability to assess, implement and monitor accounting software and systems
Moral fortitude to bring forth failures/maturity to determine the difference between that and an honest mistake
Ability to manage a small support staff
Basic familiarity with income tax rules applicable to not-for-profit organizations and employers.
